The whisky flavour wheel below was developed by Agroscope, the Swiss confederation's centre of excellence for agricultural research. The flavour wheel was developed in order to allow a more accurate description of the range of flavours in whisky. It consists of three concentric circles, broken down into various flavour categories which standardises the method by which whisky is described which in turn increases the accuracy of the sensory description.

The whisky colour chart below, as found on the Whisky Magazine website, is a 20-point scale representing the various colours of whisky with descriptors for each colour. It may not show every possibility but provides a great basis to determine the colour of your whisky and as with the flavour wheel, aids in compiling accurate and consistent notes.
